"ALL ABOUT THAT BASS" ŞARKI ANALİZİ
*The English translation is below the text
Meghan Trainor’un “All About That Bass” şarkısını
Kendisini
kilolu gören ve hisseden bayanlara öncülük etmek ve cesaret vermek istiyor.
“All About That Bass” şarkını da bu amaçla yapmış. Hem klip hem şarkı tamamen
şeker tadında ve görünümünde. Ta ki şarkının sözlerini keşfedinceye kadar. Peki şarkının sözlerinde ne var? Ne mi
olacak?
“Because you know I'm all about that bass
'Bout that bass, no treble”
'Bout that bass, no treble”
Aslında “bass” kalın nota, “treble”
ise ince nota demektir. Ama burada anlatılmak istenen şudur, “Çünkü biliyorsun
ben “bas”ı (kalınlığı) severim, “tiz”i (inceliği) değil.”
“Yeah,
it's pretty clear, I ain't no size two
But I can shake it, shake it, like I'm supposed to do
'Cause I got that boom boom that all the boys chase
And all the right junk in all the right places”
But I can shake it, shake it, like I'm supposed to do
'Cause I got that boom boom that all the boys chase
And all the right junk in all the right places”
“Evet, bu açıkça görülüyor ki ben
2 beden değilim
Ama gene de gerektiği gibi çalkayalabilirim
Çünkü tüm erkeklerin peşinden koştuğu „boom boom“ a sahibim
Ve bütün herşey yerli yerinde”
Ama gene de gerektiği gibi çalkayalabilirim
Çünkü tüm erkeklerin peşinden koştuğu „boom boom“ a sahibim
illa “boom boom”a sahip olunmasına da gerek yoktur.
“I see the magazine workin' that
Photoshop
We know that shit ain't real, come on now, make it stop
If you got beauty, beauty, just raise 'em up
'Cause every inch of you is perfect from the bottom to the top”
We know that shit ain't real, come on now, make it stop
If you got beauty, beauty, just raise 'em up
'Cause every inch of you is perfect from the bottom to the top”
Çünkü tepeden tırnağa her yerin mükemmel”
Çünkü tepeden tırnağa her yerin mükemmel”
Evet
“Tepeden tırnağa her yerin
Denilmesi
gereken “güzellik zaten senin içinde ve bunu ortaya çıkar” olmalıydı.
“Yeah, my mama she told me
"don't worry about your size"
She says, "Boys like a little more booty to hold at night"
You know I won't be no stick figure silicone Barbie doll
So if that what you're into, then go 'head and move along”
She says, "Boys like a little more booty to hold at night"
You know I won't be no stick figure silicone Barbie doll
So if that what you're into, then go 'head and move along”
“Annem bana bedenim hakkında
endişelenmemem gerektiğini söyler
Erkekler geceleri dolgulu kalça tutmak isterler der
Biliyorsun ben bir çöp kız silikon Barbie bebek olmayacağım
Eğer sende böyle düşünüyorsan, devam et ilerle”
Erkekler geceleri dolgulu kalça tutmak isterler der
Biliyorsun ben bir çöp kız silikon Barbie bebek olmayacağım
Eğer sende böyle düşünüyorsan, devam et ilerle”
Meghan’a
annesi tarafından verilen ilk öğüt çok güzel. Evet bayanlar bedenleriyle
takıntılı olmamalı ve bedenlerinin hayatlarının kontrolünü eline almasına izin
vermemeli.
“I'm bringing booty back
Go 'head and tell them skinny bitches that
No, I'm just playing, I know you think you're fat
But I'm here to tell you...
Every inch of you is perfect from the bottom to the top”
Go 'head and tell them skinny bitches that
No, I'm just playing, I know you think you're fat
But I'm here to tell you...
Every inch of you is perfect from the bottom to the top”
“Kalçayı geri getiriyorum
Git ve şu cılız cadalozlara bunu söyle
Hayır ben sadece oynuyorum ve biliyorum sen kendinin şişman olduğunu düşünüyorsun
Ama ben sana şunu söylemek için buradayım
Çünkü tepeden tırnağa her yerin mükemmel”
Git ve şu cılız cadalozlara bunu söyle
Hayır ben sadece oynuyorum ve biliyorum sen kendinin şişman olduğunu düşünüyorsun
Ama ben sana şunu söylemek için buradayım
Çünkü tepeden tırnağa her yerin mükemmel”
cadalozlar” diyerek onlara hakaret edemezsin.
“Kilo” konusu her geçen
dönem farklılaşmaktadır.. Eskiden “balık etli” olmak makbule geçerken şimdi “0
beden” olmak ve “thigh gap” a sahip olmak makbule geçiyor.

"ALL ABOUT THAT BASS" SONG ANALYSIS
Have you ever listened to “All About That Bass” by Meghan
Trainor or have you ever watched her music video? Meghan is a curvy singer who
can pull off any outfits and has a very beautiful voice. She wants to lead and
to encourage the woman who feel overweight. That is why she made that
song. The music video seems like sugar
and the song tastes like sugar before discovering the meaning of the lyrics.
What about the lyrics, then? You know what? It gives a distorted message to
society, especially to ladies.
The song starts like this:
“Because you know I'm all about that bass
'Bout that bass, no treble”
“Because you know I'm all about that bass
'Bout that bass, no treble”
For real, “bass” means “deep sound”
while “treble” means “shrill sound”.
However, the message in the lyrics differs. In the lyrics, it actually
means that she values being overweight, not underweight.
“Yeah,
it's pretty clear, I ain't no size two
But I can shake it, shake it, like I'm supposed to do
'Cause I got that boom boom that all the boys chase
And all the right junk in all the right places”
But I can shake it, shake it, like I'm supposed to do
'Cause I got that boom boom that all the boys chase
And all the right junk in all the right places”
Now
we see it clearly that to make herself feel better, she disses women who do not
look like her in terms of body weight. If a person is thin, it does not mean
that guys would not be into her. A woman does not have to have “boom boom” to
make guys chase her.
There
is a good point in this part of lyrics. Recently, in magazines, we see a lot of
photoshopped/airbrushed images of celebrities. We can not even tell whether
those are real or not. We believe that photoshopped images are like what it
must be supposed to be. Thus, we then start to base our lives on unrealistic expectations.
The message “every inch of you is perfect from the bottom to the top” is really
nice since it tells women to accept themselves like the way they are. But the
“if” clause in the line “if you got beauty, beauty, just raise ‘em up”
overshadows the main purpose of the message. It should have been said “you got
beauty in you, in you, just raise ‘em up” instead.
The
first advice given to Meghan by her mother is really nice. Yeah, women should
not obsess over their body sizes and they should not let their body size take
control over their life. However, the second advice uglifies the
situation. While curvy or outweight women is being praised, thin or underweight women get skinny shaming.
No one should be standard. No one has to look the same, therefore, no one has
to look like a Barbie doll. Also, no one should force any other to look like
that. We already know that the size of Barbie doll would not work in real life
because the size was never intended to be based on reality. Hence, there is no
need to criticize thin women as “stick figure”.
I
can not think of any worse saying than “I’m bringing booty back”. The body size
differs for everyone. You do not have to be curvy or hefty to have booty. It is
about the bone structure in which the structure becomes more distinctive when
the amount of fat in there increases. No one has a right to insult anyone
saying “skinny bitches” just to praise themselves. Other than that, the last
two lines are nice messages for the ones who feel overweight.
To address the issue, to insult
people because of their body type, size and weight can make them feel
psychologically hurt. Women especially get more hurt, since they are more
sensitive to this subject. Unfortunately, overweight women are usually exposed
with negative comments and being made fun of which makes them feel upset, hurt
and insecure. But it does not give them a right to make fun of underweight
women as revenge. No one should be allowed to harrass/bully others and to manipulate others psychologically in
order to make themselves feel better. Furthermore, none of the women should allow
men to treat them as “sexual object” by letting themselves caught in these
details. Guys can often say that “I will marry a girl who looks like bla bla
bla”, “I will date a girl who dresses up like bla bla bla”, etc. But deep down,
we all know that they will eventually get married to someone they can actually
get along well with. However, the weight issue is not only been brought up by
men but also by society and press. The “weight” subject differs every era. A
long while ago, being “curvy” used to be appreciated, whereas nowadays being
“size 0” or having “thigh gap” is appreciated. It all means that the “weight” subject is now
a fashion subject which is very unhealthy. The real thing that matters is that
no matter whether you are thin or fat, as long as it does not risk your health,
your weight and size are all just numbers.
